There was not a minute of that 25 years where I was not thinking about my weight, exercise and food – food consumed me - what I would or could eat, what I should eat, what I shouldn’t be eating, the constant meal planning, it was endless and it consumed my time, focus, finances - I spent over $100,000 looking for a solution
I just didn’t understand - how come sometimes I could control wanting and other times wanting controlled me? I didn’t understand why wanting turned into eating binges that sweep me away and caused me to gain the weight back time and time again?
I left no stone un-turned to find out what was driving my eating, I studied, read and researched everything from health, fitness, nutrition, multiple areas of behavioural psychology including positive psychology, survival behaviour, and what it takes to create sustainable behaviour & habit change, I also become a master practitioner in NLP, and I’ve done a lot of work in the areas of spirituality, meditation, mindfulness and everything in between.
I educated myself and went from the unhealthy lifestyle of a 21 year to an all organic life of a mature woman– there was nothing I wasn’t willing to try, I even had all my amalgam fillings removed as was told it was the toxins that were keeping me fat. I was so desperate, if someone had said – Katie you need to eat broken glass to be successful at losing weight for life, I would have done it in a heartbeat! I did every lotion, potion, pill powder, shake & diet, BUT always found myself back where I started.
I was so ashamed; I just didn’t understand what the heck was wrong with me that I couldn’t control myself? Why was it so damn hard – I just wanted to lose weight.
The problem was I kept doing programs that were essentially a one size fits all because no one had ever asked me about my life:
The challenges I had, my skills or knowledge, my likes my dislikes, my capabilities, how much available time I had or didn’t have, my cooking skills, who or what was impacting my ability to be successful in losing weight. No one asked me how I felt or thought about food, exercise, my body or my life. It was always about what to eat and when and how and when to exercise.
I was fed up (pun intended!), I needed to lose weight my way.
I looked at the 300 strategies I’d tried and documented over the last 25 years and I picked out the ones that I’d had the most success with and I called them my Freedom Codes™.
And I developed a program to overcome the obstacles I had to losing weight and change the habits and behaviours I wanted to change so I could lose weight my way and lose it for life.
And within 12 months, I lost 20kgs – which was astounding to me as that was no longer my goal.
I hadn’t been restricting my food, or hurting myself with exercise, in fact I hadn’t been thinking about my weight at all and I didn’t even really notice the weight was coming off because I was so focused on being happy!
And that's how Dietless Living® evolved and now I teach others how to overcome their obstacles to losing weight so they can lose weight their way and lose it for life, because there are thousands suffering just like I was.
