Do You Have a Self-Care Routine or Philosophy?

Self-care is talked about a lot, and mostly by women if I'm honest. I can truthfully say I've never heard a man talk about self-care, perhaps men have different terminology that means the same? If they do, I would love it if you would tell me what that is.

WHAT IS SELF CARE?

Is it baths, bubbles, relaxation, massages, having facials, getting the right amount of sleep or taking time out?

Is it planning for your future, building a bridge of communication between your unconscious and conscious minds and creating alignment between thoughts, feelings and behaviours?

Is it dumping toxic relationships, staying away from negative people, and saying no and putting yourself first?

Is it spending time in nature, swimming in the ocean, running along bush tracks or through the forest, gardening, laying on the grass or cloud gazing?

Is it integrating the emotional, mental and physical and creating positive health habits?

Is it eating healthy, getting regular exercise, not drinking to excess, drinking filtered water, herbal teas and taking vitamins and supplements?

Is it standing up for yourself, building confidence and self-esteem, developing new skills and knowledge, developing self-awareness, or increasing your financial literacy and skills to improve your financial well-being?

Is it crying when you want or need to, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, speaking up, opening up, and joining in?

Is it staying calm, being curious, staying engaged and asking questions?

Is it resolving self-sabotaging behaviours, developing success strategies, creating positive relationships with self and others or developing career and work achievement?

Is it participating, being seen, heard and being centre stage and having fun?

Is it learning about your body, learning about and understanding your emotions, expanding your perspective or developing behavioural flexibility?

Is it having loads of social time with people who float your boat and who you feel your best with?

Is it all of these things?

Self-care is ensuring that the life you live is one that creates positive outcomes for you in every area of your life.

Self-care is ensuring you have your priority's right;

  • Health first always, without health, you have very little else. Mental, emotional and physical health all go hand in hand. Science is continually proving that how well you deal with life mentally and emotionally is how well you do physically. Find as many ways to build your mental and emotional health as you do your physical.
  • Relationships, money, fun, love, career and so on, will swap and change position in the priority order throughout your life. 

As long as you have your health, you will be able to navigate all other things and make the next right decision and do the next right thing and you will always come out on top.
