It’s a great time to be alive!
Thanks’ to the tough, strong, courageous, collaborative, determined, resilient and committed women who pioneered the Women’s Liberation Movement in the 60’s – 70’s, they significantly improved the status and opportunities available to women today.
50+ years later, we are living lifestyles that our mothers and grandmothers may not have even dreamed about in regards to enjoying fulfilling careers, following personal interests, and rising to C Suite levels.
And therein lies the conundrum that often leads to women in the 40’s and 50’s walking away from careers they’ve worked so very hard to build.
We were raised in the best of times for opportunities and choice, by women with strong family values of domesticity, modesty, nurturing, caregiving, and homemaking.
I read somewhere a perfect way to describe the women from my era:
It’s common to hear the phrase: “I don’t know how she does it all!?”
We are remarkable aren’t we? We start out feeling like Wonder Woman, we are young and feel like we can take on the world, we have energy, drive, passion and vision.
We take everything in our stride, feeling strong, confident and hitting all our targets.
But as the years pass and life builds, our internal resources start to deplete and we stop feeling like Wonder Woman and start feeling more like Dorothy.
Then the question we start asking ourselves is: “How much longer can I do it all?”
This isn’t just a few of us, it’s lot of us.
WALKING AWAY
We’re so focused on getting everything done, being great role models for our children, not disappointing anyone that we don’t notice that our health and happiness is on a backward trajectory.
By the time we do notice, we’re so far off course we don’t know how to change it.
We’ve got so many habits and behaviours going on that are negatively impacting our weight, health and happiness that we have no idea where to start or how to turn things around, and we simply don’t have the energy anymore to fight for ourselves.
The stats are that 40% of all premature deaths are caused by habits that could be changed – that’s not from genetics, not environment, not unexpected circumstance or outside influences, but from things that we’re doing, that if we didn’t do them, could save our life.
The problems not that we don’t want to change, the problems there’s too much to change and we don’t know where to start.
When we look out into the market place for help, all that’s available are eating plans, exercise programs, mindfulness practices, better time management tools so we get more done and “hopefully” relieve ourselves of the pressure of that foot we feel on the back of our head pushing us every day or we think that we can work our way out of it, much like a runner with a pain that thinks they can just run through the pain and it will resolve itself.
But things don’t get better by chance, they get better by choice.

Personal Health Leadership™ is understanding your habits and behaviours, with strategies for breaking the old, creating new and preventing habit relapse. You’ll cultivate new perspectives and adaptable behaviours that support health, happiness, and wellbeing across multiple areas of your life, emphasizing resilience and flexibility in maintaining positive habits.
You’ll have a complete structured goal attainment and habit formation process that provides a systematic approach to setting and achieving goals while maintaining alignment with personal values and great health habits to avoid burnout and feeling lost.
