So that’s not genetics, not environment, not unexpected circumstance or outside influences, but things you’re doing, that if you didn’t do them, could save your life.
 
But changing habits is hard though, isn’t it?
 
No. Not if you have the right process to follow and the right guidance and coaching to show you what is happening behind the scenes of you so that you can take charge of you.
 
Because we actually feel powerless and ashamed that we can’t control ourselves, I know that’s how I used to feel. I was always so ashamed when the weight would pile back on and I would have to endure the mixture of looks from the people who knew me, everything from pity to disgust. There were people who felt it was ok to say unkind things to me about my “lack of will power”.
 
I never understood why, after all the work that I put into understanding human behaviour – my behaviour – why couldn’t I control my eating? It was bewildering and humiliating. Worst of all was I knew that I was accidentally committing suicide because I knew if I didn’t work out how to change my health habits, they were going to shorten my life.
 
There is a bit of a myth that it only takes 21 days to change a habit. But that’s really not true.
 
If it were, then there would be no yo-yo dieting would there? Hundreds of thousands of people change their eating habits for longer than 21 days, myself included, but at some point, there’s a relapse back into old eating habits and the weight piles back on.

The future of your health and happiness really does depend mostly on your ability to change your unconscious habits, patterns and behaviours.
