I was thinking the other day about the times in my life when I've sat down and decided on a goal that I wanted to achieve.
It'd be a goal I was determined to achieve because it'd provide a great and desired impact in my life.
I'd spend the day thinking about it, feeling the enthusiasm for it, thinking about what I've gotta do to achieve it and deciding on what my first action would be starting the very next day.
Then either that very next day or one of the days soon after it, I wouldn't follow through on my plan.
All that motivation and enthusiasm have flown the coop. All that energy that had been coursing through my veins and propelling me forward, gone, without explanation.
I never understood how I could be all fired up and soooooooo determined one day, not only vowing to get on with the business of achieving my goal, but super excited about it as well as I always had a kick arse plan, and then simply not follow through.
It got me wondering, why isn't my motivation long lasting?
How can motivation get me all fired up and raring to go one day and the next day be absolutely nowhere in sight?
Have you ever experienced this strange phenomenon?
Motivation's like the ignition in your car.
It fires everything up! It creates the spark that gets all the pistons pumping and the engine running.
The problem was that on the days when there wasn't a spark when I turned the key, I just walked away.
It's easy to achieve and move towards your goal on the days that you're feeling that motivation fire you up isn’t it?!
It's not always as easy on the days when your battery's flat and there’s no spark.
It's what you do when there's no spark that counts the most.
That's where powerful mental and emotional fitness come into play.
That's where a choice of strategy comes in handy.
That's where persistence lives.
Because you might have to walk to where-ever it is that you want to go.

Consistently returning to your plan, re-assessing, reviewing and revising to fit with current life circumstances, life is fluid, and your plan needs to be fluid too.
