Do you give your energy away to other people?
Reclaim your energy and make yourself your priority.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation, and wondered ''how the heck did I get here?''
I know I have…..many, many, maaaany times, especially with my weight! And I was always left wondering how did I allow it to happen?
Then I learned the theory of how to boil a frog and it changed my life.
To boil a frog: put him in a pot of room temperature water and then very very slowly keep adjusting the heat and the frog will make adjustment after adjustment after adjustment in its body temperature until eventually it accidentally allows itself to be boiled.
When you gain weight, you do the same thing, you make adjustment after adjustment after adjustment:
You start wearing the clothes that are a bit looser
You let your belt out a notch
You go shopping and buy new clothes but they are the next size up
You stop getting on the scales because you don't like what they say
You stop looking at yourself naked in the mirror or you make sure it's at the most flattering angle...
What it is that you really want?
To establish the direction that you want to go in, you have to have a bigger why so you know where you're going and you can create a map to it.
Your brain is one of the smartest living organisms on the planet.
Yep, that's right - YOUR brain is one of the smartest living organisms on the planet!
I know, the best kept secret isn't it! No one has ever told you that your brain is as smart as everyone else's.
Your brain has so many facets to it, so much complexity, so much genius, and above all, it is ready, willing and able to do what you want it to do.
Everything that you currently do, your brain learned how to do it.
So the reality is that everything you want to do, your brain will learn that too.
And that is what our work together in Dietless Living Academy is doing, training your brain to do what you want.
When you're learning something new, you know it's going to take time to get from being a beginner to being a master.
When you're un-learning how to do something your brain already does, then it's also going to take time for it to go from being a master of doing things the old way to...
The mind is a funny thing you know.
I always marveled at how I could know I was fat but still some part of my brain would be telling me that I was hiding it well from the world, nobody else could see it. That would be until eventually something would happen that would illustrate to me that I wasn’t hiding it at all.
Those times were often when I’d see a photo of myself.
When that realisation would come, that I needed to lose weight, when something would jar me into action, there was always a wave of panic, and the resounding thought in my head was "Get it off me, now!"
When I’d reach that point, that panic would result in the first biggest mistake I would make time and time again.
I’d dive in boots and all! I wanted quick fixes and I wanted them immediately!
My plan for change was always;
· Get on very calorie-restrictive diet
· Restrict food groups – normally carbs...
Breakfree from living a tight life and start doing the things that you want to do. Increase fun and playfulness because great change happens when you loosen up.
I did a post about all the types of yoga I have done and on the list was a one time event - naked yoga. It was for women and the purpose was to let women know their body is beautiful, no matter what shape it is.
The curious thing was that all of the women there were young and slender. And when each person got to say their name and why they came, each woman spoke of how they didn't like their body. They didn't like the shape, the contours, their height, or some other aspect about themselves that made them feel self conscious.
The human body is a walking miracle and its so weird for us to hate it because the only things that we hate about our bodies are things that we cannot change, the things that we came into this life with or acquired along the way. Or its something that we can change but aren't. Either way, it makes no sense to hate it.
And when you think about it, if you hate something, you aren't going to look after it with loving care, right?
I used to hate my body, and I...
Do you have a favourite photo that reminds you of everything you love in one single image?
This photo does it for me.
I took it while standing on a platform waiting for an early morning train on one of my adventures. I saw this reflection in the window of a train and it just captured everything I love - the ease of being on the road!
I love love looooove the moments when I am no where in particular, those moments between destinations, those moments on the train, on the bus, in the car or on a plane when I am free to change my mind and go anywhere. I don't care about delays or cancellations or detours, I just love being on the road!
I'm not a light traveler by any stroke of the imagination but I am happy knowing that I am self-sufficient and that I have everything I need in that suitcase and the backpack on my back.
Actually, this is a fun fact about me that you wouldn't know:
From January 30th 2013 - Dec 13th 2017 that suitcase and backpack were the only belongings I had while I...
Did you know that when you have a goal, that your motivation to achieve that goal is either away from something or towards something?
When you're motivated away from something, that is fear based motivation.
Away from Motivation:
Away from motivation is a fear based motivation. The fear will motivate you until you get far enough away from the thing you’re afraid of (a scary health, financial, relationship, or employment issue) and you’re no longer afraid, then your motivation beings to drop off and eventually you end up back where you started.
Then as you start to slide back to where you were, the fear kicks in and you once again take action.
Towards Motivation:
There are 2 angles to toward motivation.
The first kind is a short lived towards motivation, which means you become motivated to reach a goal that has a finite point in the future: example to lose weight for an event, to save money for a particular purchase. But when you reach that...
Hi there, I’m Katie Gordon and I am Dietless Living.
