Mistakes I’ve made #1 Take No Prisoners

The mind is a funny thing you know.

I always marveled at how I could know I was fat but still some part of my brain would be telling me that I was hiding it well from the world, nobody else could see it. That would be until eventually something would happen that would illustrate to me that I wasn’t hiding it at all.

Those times were often when I’d see a photo of myself.

When that realisation would come, that I needed to lose weight, when something would jar me into action, there was always a wave of panic, and the resounding thought in my head was "Get it off me, now!"

When I’d reach that point, that panic would result in the first biggest mistake I would make time and time again.

I’d dive in boots and all! I wanted quick fixes and I wanted them immediately!

My plan for change was always;
·       Get on very calorie-restrictive diet
·       Restrict food groups – normally carbs...

"I hate my body"

I did a post about all the types of yoga I have done and on the list was a one time event - naked yoga. It was for women and the purpose was to let women know their body is beautiful, no matter what shape it is.

The curious thing was that all of the women there were young and slender. And when each person got to say their name and why they came, each woman spoke of how they didn't like their body. They didn't like the shape, the contours, their height, or some other aspect about themselves that made them feel self conscious.

‍The human body is a walking miracle and its so weird for us to hate it because the only things that we hate about our bodies are things that we cannot change, the things that we came into this life with or acquired along the way. Or its something that we can change but aren't. Either way, it makes no sense to hate it.

And when you think about it, if you hate something, you aren't going to look after it with loving care, right?

I used to hate my body, and I...

What Is That Something That You Really Love Doing?

Do you have a favourite photo that reminds you of everything you love in one single image?

This photo does it for me.

I took it while standing on a platform waiting for an early morning train on one of my adventures. I saw this reflection in the window of a train and it just captured everything I love - the ease of being on the road!

I love love looooove the moments when I am no where in particular, those moments between destinations, those moments on the train, on the bus, in the car or on a plane when I am free to change my mind and go anywhere. I don't care about delays or cancellations or detours, I just love being on the road!

I'm not a light traveler by any stroke of the imagination but I am happy knowing that I am self-sufficient and that I have everything I need in that suitcase and the backpack on my back.

Actually, this is a fun fact about me that you wouldn't know:

From January 30th 2013 - Dec 13th 2017 that suitcase and backpack were the only belongings I had while I...

What's Your Motivation?

motivation & success Nov 11, 2021

Did you know that when you have a goal, that your motivation to achieve that goal is either away from something or towards something?

When you're motivated away from something, that is fear based motivation.

Away from Motivation:
Away from motivation is a fear based motivation. The fear will motivate you until you get far enough away from the thing you’re afraid of (a scary health, financial, relationship, or employment issue) and you’re no longer afraid, then your motivation beings to drop off and eventually you end up back where you started.

Then as you start to slide back to where you were, the fear kicks in and you once again take action.

Towards Motivation:
There are 2 angles to toward motivation.

The first kind is a short lived towards motivation, which means you become motivated to reach a goal that has a finite point in the future:  example to lose weight for an event, to save money for a particular purchase. But when you reach that...

I Was Born To Solve Problems

Hi there, I’m Katie Gordon and I am Dietless Living.

And I was born to solve problems.

My most valuable skills do not involve my knowledge about human behaviours or my knowledge about food and exercise.

My most important skill is my ability to radically transform the lives of the people I work with.

‍ My super power is to know the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are keeping you stuck and how to gently lead you to more helpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours in fun and entertaining ways.

It’s my ability to break down every problem behaviour you have into an easy to understand system that gives you choices, freedom and control over what you do.

If you’re looking for the trap door out of emotional eating, self soothing with alcohol and food and whatever else it is that is keeping you stuck in dieting hell ‘then I can certainly help you

There’s so many people online telling you what to eat and how to exercise, right?

But if you’re a yo yo...

Have you ever felt stuck?

Have you ever felt stuck?

I have. It's such a powerless position to be in.

But no one is ever truly stuck, there is always something you can do to get yourself moving.

Step 1. Establish the direction you want to head in
Step 2. Get some paper and a pen
Step 3. Brainstorm all the wild and wacky ways that you can think of to get you from where you are to where you want to go
Step 4. Choose your first step
Step 5. Take action

It sounds so trite doesn't it? You've read those steps many times before I'm sure.

The thing is, when we are down, when we feel like we're stuck in quicksand, it's the quicksand of our mind that we're stuck in.

The simple act of writing stuff out will help you move through that quagmire and get yourself going.

You will have to do it again and again and again until you start to feel like the person who got dumped by the big wave as they finally swim to the top and break through the surface. Then you'll start to get some traction.

Keep going. Don't allow yourself to get bogged...

Are you creating success in your career but bankrupting your health to get there?

motivation & success Oct 19, 2021

Are you creating success in your career but bankrupting your health to get there?

How many people strive for success in their careers and ambitions but at the cost of their health?

Burning the candle at both ends and in the middle, living under constant pressures and impossible deadlines and everything else that goes with it, all while looking after the family and often times, studying for their next degree or PhD as well!

Is it worth it though?

Do you suffer from:
Indigestion, heartburn, reflux
Bowel problems
Insomnia
Headaches, migraines
Muscle tension and mystery body pains
Skin rashes
Brain fog and fatigue
Joint pain
Low mood and mood swings
Weight problems

Stress is one of the leading causes of major health problems.

The solution is to reduce stress, but how do you do that when you have all those plates spinning? It feels impossible to step away from it all without it all collapsing and causing more stress.

Imagine being able to relax amongst the chaos, living your life, unhurried yet...
