I made time for skating again on the weekend and nearly doubled what I achieved last week. Of the 16.5km, 6.5 is skating (last week I only did 3.5km). I was a bit wonky to start but by the end I was happy to notice that I was pushing off properly and without thinking about it. I also noticed that I was having long stretches where I was actually looking around at the lovely scenery rather than being fully focused on what I was doing.
I'm still not ready to leave my "training" ground where I have the comfort of a railing within arms reach if I need it, but if I keep up the regular practice, the time is getting closer when I will be able to venture further along the kilometers of river walk way.

Spring back, to rebound, its our capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness, it’s our ability to return to balance after being bent, compressed or stretched out of shape, our ability to recover readily from illness, depression and adversity – it’s how buoyant we are.
Other ways to think of our resiliency is to think about our flexibility – mental, emotional and physical flexibility, our pliability and suppleness to adapt to any and all changes, it’s about how supple we are, our “give” and how well we bounce.
Now think about those words – flexible, pliable, suppleness, springiness, give, bounce…don’t they all sound like words of fun and play?

Happy days are skating days.....sway, glide, push....such a mesmerizing mantra!
I have'nt been practicing my skating as much as I want, the last time was 2 months ago. But even with a 2 month gap between my 1st & 2nd go I noticed an incredible difference in my balance and technique. And oh the joy of it all! I wasn't planning on taking a photo of me at the end, I was knackered after rolling along the amazing Brissy river and Howard Smith Wharf for 3.5km, but a lady walked past and commented on how pink my face was, so I thought I better have a look. It's true, pink really is the colour of happiness Mind you, I went in the middle of the day and the temp was about 32 degrees...but if I don't go when I can, I don't go, so better to be skating in the heat of the day then not skating at all is now my new philosophy.
