It’s normally not a very restful time though is it, with the whole lead up to the big day, things to do, places to go and people to see.
Now is the time to think about how to reset yourself, your energy and start looking forward.

This week I’m talking about the concepts and misguided ideas that we have about what constitutes good health.
I’m a great observer of people, and I’m lucky to live in the city where there is so many to observe.
I see beautiful slender people, totally buff people, well dressed successful looking people, and I often catch myself thinking; “Don’t they look the picture of success, health and happiness”.
And I think that because really that’s what we’ve been lead to think success, health and happiness looks like; slender and fashionable.
But what is health?
Ian McWilliams has a fascinating story of two areas of his life that came together at an interesting and unexpected intersection.

I’m not a skinny Minnie, but I got rid of about 20+kg in weight in 2011 and I’ve remained at my current body size ever since…because I finally worked out what causes it.
I know that sounds funny, stupid even to say I didn’t know what caused me to put on weight…clearly it was the amount of calories I was consuming, but what I mean is, I didn’t know what caused the frenzy on eating. And I can tell you, no one else knows what causes it either, because if they did, we wouldn’t have the problems we have.
I don’t have a degree in nutrition, psychology or fitness.
But sometimes, actions and results speak louder than degrees.
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.
Theory that hasn’t been applied is just that, theory.
But theory that has been applied, tested and collated, that is knowledge.
And everything that I teach is something I learned (theory),...

It's not just about what you do for your body, but also what you do for yourself psychologically, neurologically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
It’s a way of living that’s based on the principle that it’s not what we do, but how we do it.
Happiness, playfulness, and relaxation are important to our well-being, they help us overcome obstacles in ways that impact positively on our weight, health, and well-being.
When we’re happy, we’re more likely to take on challenges and risks without worrying about the consequences.
Being playful can help us to feel less overwhelmed because it helps us to focus on the present moment and find a way to enjoy it.
Feeling physically, emotionally, and mentally relaxed means we’re more capable of conscious control of our emotional responses which leads to more positive reactions in our day-to-day life, creating more enjoyable experiences which in turn leads to better health habits and sleep.
Happiness,...

Did you know you’re non-conscious eating habits, patterns and behaviours are an accumulation of every time you’ve eaten food throughout your entire life?
They’re a collection of every set eating time you’ve had:
Those connections aren’t just psychological, their biological and neurological as well.
Our whole mind and body are wired to fire in certain ways, in certain conditions to get us to do certain things that we taught it to do.
Our brain and body are mimicking, learning machines that learn, code and store information, patterns and experiences through our emotions.
